Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 28, 2026

1. Introduction

ContentRefresh AI (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your personal data when you use the ContentRefresh AI plugin (“Plugin”) or visit our website at contentrefreshai.com (“Site”).

Please read this policy carefully. By using the Plugin or Site, you agree to the practices described here.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide Directly

  • Account and contact information: When you contact us via our support form, we collect your name, email address, website URL, and message content.
  • Payment information: Pro Plan subscriptions are processed by our payment processor, Freemius. We do not directly collect or store your credit card number or billing details — these are handled entirely by Freemius. We receive basic transaction records (plan type, renewal dates, licence status).
  • License key: When you activate a Pro licence, we store your licence key locally within your WordPress installation. This key is used solely to verify your subscription status.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Website analytics: We may use standard web analytics tools that collect anonymised data about visits to our Site, including pages viewed, browser type, and approximate geographic region. This data is aggregated and does not identify individual users.
  • Error and usage data: The Plugin does not transmit your article content, API keys, or WordPress data to our servers. All plugin functionality runs locally within your WordPress installation.

2.3 Information Processed by Third-Party AI Providers

When you use the Plugin to update an article, your article content is sent directly from your WordPress installation to the AI provider API you have configured (e.g. Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, xAI). This data transmission occurs between your server and the AI provider — ContentRefresh AI does not receive, store, or process this content on our own servers.

Each AI provider has its own privacy policy and data retention practices. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of the providers you use:

  • Anthropic (Claude): anthropic.com/legal/privacy
  • OpenAI (GPT): openai.com/policies/privacy-policy
  • Google (Gemini): policies.google.com/privacy
  • xAI (Grok): x.ai/legal/privacy-policy
  • OpenRouter: openrouter.ai/privacy

Important note regarding free AI tiers: Some AI providers (including Google Gemini free tier and OpenRouter free models) may use prompts and responses submitted via their free APIs to improve their models. If you are concerned about your article content being used for AI training, we recommend using a paid API tier and reviewing your provider’s data retention settings.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To provide and maintain the Plugin: Processing licence activations, verifying subscription status, and delivering software updates.
  • To respond to support requests: Using your contact information to respond to your enquiries and resolve technical issues.
  • To improve our service: Analysing anonymised usage patterns to understand how the Plugin is used and identify areas for improvement.
  • To send service communications: Transactional emails related to your subscription (receipts, renewal notices, important product updates). We do not send unsolicited marketing emails.

4. Data Storage and Security

Data you enter into the Plugin (API keys, settings, update history) is stored locally in your WordPress database. This data is subject to the security practices of your web hosting provider.

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect any personal data we hold on our own systems. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.

5. Data Retention

  • Contact form submissions: We retain your message for as long as necessary to resolve your enquiry, and delete it thereafter.
  • Subscription records: Transaction and licence records are retained for as long as your subscription is active and for a reasonable period thereafter for accounting and legal compliance purposes.
  • Plugin data: Update history, settings, and API keys stored in your WordPress database are deleted when you uninstall the Plugin and confirm data removal.

6. Cookies

Our website may use cookies for basic functionality and anonymised analytics. We do not use cookies to track individuals across other websites or serve targeted advertising. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though this may affect some website functionality.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data, subject to legal retention requirements.
  • Objection: Object to certain processing of your data.
  • Data portability: Request your data in a portable format.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us via our Contact page. We will respond within 30 days.

8. Children’s Privacy

The Plugin and Site are not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Third-Party Links

Our Site and Plugin documentation may contain links to third-party websites. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated to active subscribers by email. Continued use of the Plugin after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.

11. Contact Us

If you have any questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or our data practices, please contact us via the Contact page on our website. We take privacy seriously and will respond to all enquiries promptly.
